The main point i would like to make is that our government is not acting on the same principles established by our founding fathers. Sometimes i think about what George Washington, James Madison, and the rest of the great heroes who sacrificed their lives to make a great country for us today would think about us and our government.

In my eyes freedom of speech dosent exist anymore. The government will do anything to shut the people out rather than let the people have the voice the country. Please tell me what you think of America today and what we may have to suffer in the near future. If we continue to act as we do now America has 20 years at most until collapsing. How can we make America what it is meant to be.

Bush has already said the Constitution is " just a G*dd****d piece of paper ". The courts claim it is a " living document " to distort and twist the words and meanings.

The minor earthquakes I felt in Bahstan were the patriots spinning in their graves....

And I walked the freedom trail....

Times up. Are you a sheeple? We may find out soon...

Well I actually believe that we have a lot more rights in some ways than we did back when the bill of rights was written. Some may think this isn't true, but what about slavery ( I know obvious example, but still a good one ).

As far as freedom of speech, it's alive and well. People call the pres a murderer and idiot, people call Hillary a whore and commie. If the goverment was silencing people, did those guys just slip through? And with the internet, everyone has a website to say whatever they want ( in america, china not so much ). Terrorists have websites, gangs have websites, pedhophiles have websites. You can say anything. As long as it isn't hurting somone, hell even if most of the time it is. Though the politicaly correct crowd have jumped on anyone who says somthing mean agianst a minority, anyone who hates the majority, is just fine. So yea, double standard, but eh, that's life.

America will probably collapse before to long, but only because the PC crowd will tie our hands in war, politics and life, and then we'll fall apart or get killed, or hell they may just tie us to horses and do both at the same time. Nah, that would be too mean to the horses for them.

America has had this problem for more than twenty years and it hasn't collapsed yet. You're right it's coming but not that quickly. There isn't one simple anwer for why and there's certainly no simple solution...

Freedom of speech still exists in a small way, but like everything else it gets marginalized by "good causes" like we want to control terrorism so if anybody says anything that could be taken to be a threat, they suddenly fall under "homeland security" rules. And then there are no freedoms.

As a general rule, we're allowed freedoms as long as they don't cost anybody any money. Money is huge in all of this, our founding fathers would be so proud!

There's hundreds of examples, like legislated seatbelts. Yeah, that's freedom. That's a petty example, but another problem is that the people can't agree on what they want.

There are so many issues that are decided by a small majority, 51% of the people get their way and 49% of the people are pissed! And with our political system, sometimes a huge majority of our people are upset about something but powerless to do anything quickly.

Sometimes all we can do is wait for the next election and then we get to pick the lesser of two evils.

We can always pray. Despite our seeming total lack of power or control, there is always power in prayer. Pray for our leaders, they definately need it.

If you look at it, your rights are still there. The very fact that you could put this on the internet without hearing a knock on the door proves it. I look in the letters section of my paper and can see a wide varity of opinions. Something that in many Countries you wouldn't see. So cheer up, the rights are there. You use them every day, without even thinking about it.

i completely and fully agree with you patriotism all the way right. well the gov. sucks as.s. and i don't know how to wake America up when you tell someone half of the things going on right now it seems so farfetched no one wants to believe that it would happen here it scares me to know my daughter will have to grow up here without half of the freedoms we once had. i think we are being sold out by money hungry politicians who don't care

On the one hand, you say that our rights are dwindling. Then, you give a link to a fear mongering web site.

Which is it? Do you want freedom, or do you want the government to control your life with anti-terror legislation that invades your life?

We lost them somewhere along the line of the judicial system. I'm not impressed, and I don't think our forefathers would be either.
