Think back over the past several decades in America, & it makes my heart break a little every time I think of this stupid era we live in.
We have no heroes, no history to really call our own.
That is a slight exaggeration, there are a handful of things that are exclusive to the 90’s & 00’s – but there’s no MAGIC- There’s nothing new, and beautiful.
Even our fashion is just regurgitated, our music is awful, free love has turned to protect yourself, & the readily available drugs that induced fun times, like acid, are really hard to get.
Oh god, look back at the 70's, 60’s, 50's, 40's, 30's, 20's. They all had clear distinct things that made them all magical, & make them historical!!!
The music, the fashions, the events, the riots/movements (and the passion behind them)
I wonder if our children, & their children will look back at these most recent decades in awe & astonishment
There hasn't been too much to miss.
We do have amazing technology, which should NEVER be taken for granted.
But while that same technology helps us, it hinders us, it hinders us by making us tremendously unsatisfied and LAZY!
How often are we happy playing in mud? How often are we satisfied enough JUST TO HAVE a TV at all period? Rather than wishing we had the other, bigger, better, flatter model instead?
Aren’t there other more essential things, that bring joy into our hearts, & leave us simply feeling good.
We should be moving along faster to better things, I feel we're beyond ready.
We need a cure for AIDS, that would be an accomplishment, we need something to make this generation proud!!!

Well to be clear, I don't think we need to repeat what we have already done... we can take influence from it and still love it, but the only way music can move forward is by trying new things and being different. Thats how its always been. As for what I would like to see... probably Math Rock, or rather it become popular. Math Rock is already booming underground, its only a matter of time before it hits the mainstream airwaves. I would like to see how far metal can expand, and if possible I would like to see more molding of different rock genres to create something new. edit: do we have Southern Metal yet? if not we should. edot: @exemplars, well... a teeny bit, but I don't think its enough to make them that.
