Hi, my husband and I are looking for something to do this weekend (Sept 22nd) for our 6th wedding anniversary. We enjoy nature-ish things and would like to spend at least one night. We were thinking of the usual Monterey or the San Mateo coast at a bed and breakfast but wanted something more original...any suggestions???

Costanoa Lodge and Resort in Pescadero is a really nice place where you can have a "luxury camping" experience.

The Ritz Carlton at Half Moon Bay is also nice, but expensive. It's right on the coast and the sunsets are BREATHTAKING!!! They also have a really nice spa. Their Sunday brunch is the best. My hubby and I stayed there for our first anniversary and I'm dyign to go back.

Wine tasting & tours are another nice way to enjoy the beautiful California countryside. There are some really nice bed & breakfast places in and around Napa, Sonoma, etc.
One of my favorite places to stay is MacArthur Place in Sonoma. It's a short walk (about 15 min) from the town square, which is where you can find good food, art galleries and boutiques. You can also visit the one of the California Missions.

If you end up down near Monterey/Carmel, you MUST try Katie's by the Sea for breakfast/brunch. It is the number 1 stop on our list EVERY time. http://www.katysplacecarmel.com/

Where ever you and your hubby end up, HAVE FUN!!! Happy Anniversary!

have you been to columbia state park? near sonora? you can get a room inside the park. there is alot of interesting things to do. fallon theater inside the park has some interesting plays. restaurants are good. stagecoach rides gold panning gold mines to explore, hiking. the staff are dressed for the period. its like an old western town in the park.

also is safari west in wine country. check out the website for info on this. i have never been but my sister has. says it is a must see. you can do a day trip or spend the night among the exotic animals.

When my family lived in L.A., every so often, my wife and I would go up to San Luis Obispo and loved the area. Nice B& B's and some great local places to eat...and beautiful area.

I took my wife to:

a few valentine's days ago and she was VERY happy with it. It's on the north coast and has in room jacuzzi, fireplace, ocean views, and the sounds of waves and seagulls. I highly recommend it, but it might be booked for this coming weekend...
