Good for you!!! Iam proud of you and all the moms that do that. That is exactly what I did, and never regret it and I will never go back to it. Just don't go back when the baby is born. Congrats and Good Luck

You quit once you found out...good for you. Im sure everything will be fine. Just dont start back up once the baby is born.

My sister in law smoked like a chimney before she got pregnant. When she found out she was pregnant , her doctor told her NOT to quit, but to cut way back. Seems that with as much as she smoked, if she were to quit, the baby would have withdrawals....bad, and that would be worse. Seems strange, but its true, and my niece is now a beautiful 18 year old woman.

Good Luck!

I quit smoking when I found out I was pregnant with my son and my daughter (I started up again after each pregnancy). I am now pregnant again and quit a 3rd time. I am hoping that I will not start again. My children are fine and had no ill effects due to my smoking for the first few weeks. The important thing is you have stopped now and don't plan to start again while you are pregnant.

yes it will be fine. you didnt smoke long enough to do anything. the thing with smoking the whole pregnancy can cause low birth weight and stuff like that and prematurity. 1st couple of weeks is ok though. i would let the doc know just so they have it on record to look back on

Obviously it would have been better had you not smoked at all, but it sounds like you made a very responsible decision as soon as you found out about your pregnancy. I wouldn't worry too much. Talk to your doctor and for now just try to relax! Congrats!

The longer you go without smoking the easier it will be.

The time that you smoked before will not harm the baby. The placenta is not functional until about 8 weeks.

You'll be fine. Good for you quitting... not easy, but don't go back!!. I don't smoke now, but stupidly smoked when pregnant with all three kids... even in the labor room... (what a jerk I was)... but in spite of my stupidity, all three kids were just fine.... Good luck :)

So according to Icypeach's logic or the doctorS?? If your on crack its already in their system so just cut down, dont completely quit, and your crackbaby will be okay. Only a little addicted.
p.s. have a drink or two is okay too. Since you got the buzz going cant stop now.

Don't smoke while your pregnant. why would you want to risk hurting your child before it comes to the world, because you need some nicotine?
