It doesn't have to be American Muscle, but a good V8 will blow away any 4cyl banger. I don't care what you strap on to the 4cyl. Don't listen to those stupid Honda kids, they are so ignorant because even Honda uses V8's in their real performance vehicles. Nothing matches the power and torque. It seems like V8 makes the best configuration for power and smoothness. And believe it or not, you can get very good fuel economy from a V8, up to 30mpg. Not as great as some 4 bangers but definitely better than the tuned up 4 bangers.

American Muscle all the way....
In many ways, the 60's Muscle cars expressed more than just a time in automobile history. Which were so original, are still sought after to this day.
The phrase Muscle Car stirs memories of big block cars like the 426 Hemi Cuda, the Boss 429 Mustang, the Shelby 427 Cobra, or the 440 Roadrunner.
Which it should, however the phrase does include also those other performance cars of the time with smaller blocks like the 351 Mustang Mach 1, 302 Z28 Camaro, Corvettes, Boss 302 Mustang, 340 Duster, to mention a few.

If you're looking for high performance and horse-power, yes, a lot more can be done with an old muscle car, than many of the new tuner's you see running around.
Every major brand has some sort of muscle car. AMX Rebel's, Buick GS, Chevy Camaro, Nova and Chevelle, Dodge Charger/Super Bee/Challenger, Ford Fairlane and Torino and Mustang (Pony Car), Mecury Cougar, Oldsmobile 442, Pontiac Firebird and GTO and many others fall into these categories and all have their own enthusiasts.
There's cars in every category to fit your needs. From raw horse-power to a semi-fuel-efficient grocery getter. And most of these will still stand-up and eat rice as needed.
The trade-offs for gas mileage vs horsepower are the big debate these days. Emissions also come into play.
Funny thing is, I have a Plymouth that gets about 8mpg, that I never drive, except for recreational driving use. I also have a Dart as a daily driver that when I keep the foot out of the 4-barrel, I get 26 mpg. Better than most SUV's out there.
I have less than $20K in both car's combined. Over 450HP to the ground in one, and over 250 HP in the other.
Just my $0.02

relies upon on the race if i'm racing on a highway course i may well be biased in the direction of an import or a pony motor vehicle. on a promptly away i might take the muscle motor vehicle. the yankee motor vehicle that could do nicely in the two environments is obviously the corvette it has promptly away means and the dealing with of a small nimble motor vehicle. as nicely in as we communicate's international the muscle automobiles racing days are in the back of it. you purchase muscle automobiles as we communicate because of the fact they stand out in a crowd. they're additionally super babe lures. Imports the two appear like each little thing else on the line or are too costly to purchase and safeguard, you attempt getting Mercedes or jaguar areas that is a soreness even for the extra user-friendly variations.

i like the old muscle cars,as long as there in good shape,as for the others if you want save gas they will do it.you wont save much right now with a muscle car that's for sure, but id always choose a good American built muscle car over an import any day,if gas gets higher than it is though, you,ll see a lot of muscle cars for sale, good luck .

They have the history and the hertiage behind them. They were the ground breakers of their days.
Since the 64 GTO started the trend, it was rising high, until the insurance industry got their nose in it. Once you get to 1973 and even some years before that, we were heading downhill for a while.
You have to love the meaty sound of a big block grumbling and shaking the ground beneath it.
Good muscle.

There's no substitute for cubic inches -- as good as imports are they are just pretend cars when compared to a '69 Z28 or '67 Shelby or '70 Challenger or '68 AMX or, well, you get my drift.....
