Well, it IS a sexual job. Actually, that may not be the best way to put it, because a lot of strippers don't actually have sex with anyone on the job. They just dance around while removing their clothes as a means of sexually arousing people. In any sense, what they are doing is of a sexual nature, and a lot of people have totally demonized sex.
I have to admit, it isn't exactly the most respected job in the world, but strippers often make pretty good money. And the people that say that they are using their bodies instead of their minds are speaking in a very general tone, and are neglecting the entire picture of what possibly or probably is. There are strippers out there who do what they do as a means of getting through school (sometimes the school they are working through is even graduate school or professional school of some kind). It would be a far cry to say that those people are not using their minds.
I am currently a graduate student, and I have to be honest, if I had the body to be a stripper, I would probably consider it just as a job to do while I'm in school. I'm not a fat guy, but I still can't seem to get that chisled look that male strippers usually have. In all, we should all try not to judge people according to their jobs (unless, of course, they are professional assassins or mob bosses, or anything else like that).

The lifestyle is hard .... many people do not understand it .... its not a job you would brag about or run home and tell your parents.... u also dont want your little girl going to school sayn when i grow up i want to be a stripper just like my mommy... its a moral/value issue associated with our religions and cultures its embedded into us no matter what culture or religion it's just not respected by most. You know where i find humor in this topic.... If i were to say ...my dad was a stripper when i was younger.... or my mom was a stripper when i was younger..... which would you frown upon more? My dad really was a stripper.... my mom never was ..... I knew a girl in high school whos mom was a stripper and i couldnt help but judge her ... yet my dad was a stripper..... ugh the way society looks at women as whore and men as men grrr.... any way good luck with whatever u choose to do as long as ur happy!

First of all, most people assume that strippers are also prostitutes. They assume that if you'll take your clothes off and dance provocatively for money, you'll do anything for money. Of course this isn't true, as most strippers work in a controlled environment and propositioning one usually results in expulsion from the club.
Secondly, people also assume that all strippers have a drug habit, and are only stripping to get that next fix. Although there ARE strippers with drug habits, many others are working their way through college or to support their children. There are also nurses, attorneys, and corporate executives that are working to support a drug habit.
Thirdly, people feel that strip clubs are detrimental to families, as it entices men to spend their nights -- and money --there, instead of with their wife and kids. If my husband would rather go out to a strip club all the time rather than stay home with me, then either I'm doing something wrong, or he's not worth my time. I believe you men should be offended by the picture you're painted as -- mindless drones at the mercy of your penis.
I see it as being a personal choice. Its not something I'd choose myself, but then again, I'm not comfortable enough with my own body. If someone else is, that's their business.

People take jobs of all kinds for various reasons – some people are lucky enough to do what they love and what they’ve always dreamed of. Others go into a profession they can tolerate because it provides security. Still others take whatever they can get so that they can do other things that are more important to them. Some people are willing to do something most others are not because they realize that it’s very lucrative to provide a specialized service. Then there are those who reluctantly do one thing after another just to pay the bills and eat, who get trapped just staying afloat and trying to provide for their families, who feel that life is passing them by. Some professions are dangerous; some are tedious. Some are dirty, or repugnant. The reasons each individual enters any given profession are their own, and reflect not at all on the job itself.
Women want to be strippers for any of the reasons people take any job. There are other jobs that takes very little talent or education, though it’s rare to assume that's because they're unable to get another job, & to wonder what they do in their spare time, or assume this to be a lifestyle instead of a job.
The issue is the women who do very little to improve their own lot in life, who compromise their own morality for short-term financial gain, and then blame the very industry that improved their lifestyle for victimizing them, exploiting them, effectively denying responsibility for their own actions and choices.
They could have made other choices, and endured further hardships to preserve their integrity.
In such an instance this industry is seen as a cesspool that sucks in the needy and unsuspecting, yet is actually a bad circumstance with limited earning potential.
So, all-in-all, people denigrate the industry for being abusive to women.
One thing that is common to virtually all strippers is that, regardless of their original motivation, they have looked past a widely held convention of society and examined something for its innate value and for its potential benefit to them.
This is usually all done out of desperation, & lives of quiet desperation are the desolate territory of all mankind.

Because we should treat our bodies as holy temples like something sacred instead of exploiting them by stripping in front of perverted onlookers. Respecting the body also includes eating healthy and not subjecting your body to poisons by drinking and smoking that's why those things are BAD as well. It also cheapens your value as a woman. There are so many more useful things a stripper could do. Strippers leave nothing to the imagination. And simply put, most people don't respect strippers as they do say doctors, lawyers and teachers. Also most strippers aren't JUST strippers. Once they enter the business, they lend themselves to drugs and prostitution. Not all but most. It's sort of like how weed is the gateway drug to harsher drugs. Well, stripping is the gateway to prostitution. Lots of strippers will not admit it because they want you to think that they make enough money without having to turn tricks but the sad truth is that they do.

I don't think it is bad at all. To each their own. We don't know the reason why they chose or choose to do that. They may have been forced or they may find no other way to make their ends meet or they may want to support a habit. So why judge them? Heck, people watch all kinds of trashy shows and movies which are worse than strip-dancing. And these are the same people who judge strippers. Hypocrites.

It all depends on the why and how you are stripping. In the big Univ. town where I went to college there were quite a few girls who stripped just to get through school. The ones I lost respect for were the ones who took it to another level. It is not a life long career and should only be short term. I couldn't/wouldn't do it but people do it for different reasons. All men are created equal, we have no right to judge anyone.

People just think its morally wrong. Dancing around with no clothes on is considered disrespectful by some people becuase its saying that you dont respect your body whatsoever. Although i dont think its totally bad, i mean some people arnt good at anything else so i guess stripping is ok if you really need the money but if you just do it for fun i guess its ok as well since your happy.

Appealing to the "baser" nature of the opposite sex... you see I do not descriminate between male and female strippers!... does not edify that person's spirit. Such behavior not only destroys marriages, families, and lives, but it destroys the spirit and soul in a way that leads to physical and spiritual death. God's desire is that we stay pure and use our bodies as tools for His use and glory.
Yeah, it's a RELIGIOUS answer, but that is why it is not a good thing.
