I have always heard that the womans vagina smells. Is that true? If so, is it a bad smell?

No its a musky smell generally. Not a bad smell. Also depend on the time of the month...
However try smelling one urself to know more.

No more than that a guy's penis would smell. It should not smell to the point that you can't get close to it. If it does, she either does not bathe regularly or there is an infection down there of some kind. Well, I guess it would have a smell, but not a bad smell.
