What would the upkeep cost look like and would it be worth it to go for the later model vette???

A 69 is going to be expensive. You can get a really good C4 model for a really good price. Another thing to consider if it's not going to be your daily driver is that you can get collectors car insurance that is a really big saving.

The older 69 Corvettes are designed to use the old high test gasoline. It's important to have the valve seats changed to accommodate the crappy gas we have today. If the motor is a high compression unit (TRW pistons) It's best to change them to flat top forged pieces. You then will be able to run the fish oil gas at the pumps.
Some of the motors were regular gas 327's and the low compression 390 hp. 427. The valve seats will be the only issue over time.

look for the 427 or 454 oldie..or go with the newest you can afford

do not buy an 82 or 84 with crossfire injection they have poor performance and not many upgrades
