A really good representation of American could be presented in a slide show that starts with a shot of the White House and progressively moves block by block in any direction. The final shot, for however you want to make your presentation would be abject poverty. This would be a true representation of American as I have seen it first hand and you might only need to go a few blocks to understand what I am saying here. You would not need to use too many pictures to make the point.
