A Yak doesn't give up easy my friend! I once had the misfortune of coming up against a raging yak.
They can smell fear from a mile away. As the beast was bearing down on me, it took a combination of mind bullets AND eye lasers to send the massive beast to a premature dirt nap! My Sherpa put a curse on the carcase as well as a couple of slugs into his neck just to be safe. The Sherpa stepped off the distance and found it to be in excess of 200 yards. Of course it wasn't an accurate measurement due to the furry shoes, but it had to do in a pinch.

Didn't kill it, just threw it a mental command to quit yakking.
