Freedom isn't free, but this war was not inevitable.

Saddam brought it upon himself by believing Bush would not follow through on his words just as Saddam did not follow through on his promises. Saddam thought of Bush as a "Paper Tiger"- something that looks fierce with very little substance.

I'm a vet too, but I have not forgotten the chain of events.

War may be inevitable, but THIS one was not.

Edit: MrPotato... you have it backwards. We have no business in Afghanistan chasing a rogue in someone else's country. That is the difference between Iraq and Afghanistan and why I support the one everybody cant get the facts straight on.

war with Afghanistan was necessary

war with Iraq was an awful mistake

but, I agree that the US has to, in some way, stay the course and rebuild that country, whether it takes a more removed position, different strategy, or cooperates with other countries
--or, it could stop arming the Sunni terrorists and simply hoping they won't turn on the US. That would help.

if people die for freedom, it would be awful if we didn't use it, right?

I agree. Freedom was bought by the blood of our founding fathers and their families.

You have to war in order to protect such because there will be people who want to take it away and shove you in the dirt.

would you at least agree that some war is avoidable and that sometimes a diplomatic agreement can sometimes be to the benefit of both sides?
