The Golgi apparatus is where proteins that have been synthesized in the ER (endoplasmic reticulum) are processed further, such as adding carbohydrates to them to form glycoproteins. After processing, vesicles bleb off of the Golgi apparatus which contain these proteins and the the vesicles go to the cell surface, merge with the plasma membrane, and the proteins that were in the vesicle are now part of the plasma membrane or are expelled to the exterior of the cell (exocytosis).

Do you have the def. for Golgi apparatus or Golgi complex? (Organelle made of a stack of flattened membrane disks that processes, sorts, and packages protein products)

Vesicles are associated with the Golgi apparatus.
1. Some vesicles arrive at the surface of the Golgi apparatus, bringing raw materials from the rough e.r. for the G.A. to work on. These vesicles are like little pods full of protein.
2. Other vesicles form when pieces of the G.A.'s membrane pinch off into little bubbles full of the sorted products made in the G.A.

See a picture here to get the general idea.
