Romney basically means " I'm a Republican and I talk out of both sides of my Bunghole at the same time."

I'm sorry to be so blunt, my Dear One, but anyone who is in Politics doesn't give a flying leap about Gay Rights. They care about Votes. Mitt Romeny told his constituants exactly what they wanted to hear : that he upholds family values and he opposes gay rights although he doesn't like discrimination.

If you're Gay, you're dry-humped by the Republican Party. If your a Democrat, they'll use lube. Welcome to the Politics.

Poli = many
tics = blood sucking parasites

Does it worry you that both of the two newest polls show Romney winning over Obama? EDIT: By the way, I seem to recall that Bush WON that election with "little support in the primaries." So I'm not sure what your point is. EDIT #2: Why do liberals always say that Rasmussen had McCain winning. Only one time did it show that, and that was after McCain's post-convention bounce.....the same bounce that every other poll showed. Rasmussen was less than a percentage point away from the actual final election result. Sorry to give you the bad news.....but Rasmussen, which shows Romney ahead, has always been one of the most accurate Presidential polls. ALWAYS.

I would think that Romney tried to express the thought that discrimination against homosexuals is unacceptable, but at the same time recognizing only traditional marriages between one man and one woman.

In short, he would oppose same-sex marriages while suggesting that homosexual unions can never become sanctioned by law.

Basically, he's saying he doesn't hate homosexuals, opposes discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation in matters *other than marriage*, but that he wants to get elected.

I'm a Libertarian, but I don't hate Romney. Denial of marriage rights to same sex couples is definitely unconstitutional, but neither a Democrat president nor a Republican one will ever support it (with actual action), regardless of their rhetoric.

I won't be voting Demopublican, but Romney would surely be better for the country than Clinton or Obama.

Be well.

It means he wants to confuse his supporters into thinking that they can be against marriage equality and still "oppose discrimination." A.K.A. it means he's trying to make bigoted people feel better when voting for Republicans.

Honestly, I don't find it any different than if he said "As Republicans we must oppose discrimination and defend the right to lynch those who aren't white". Mr. Romeny, like the rest of the lot, are a bunch of hypocrites.

I think that he must have meant 'support' instead of 'oppose'. It is the verbal equivalent of a typo!

Either that, or he thinks that allowing gay marraige would be discrimination somehow!

He means that he wants to end discriminations, but keep marriage man and woman

I think he is worried how oppressed the majority is, and how rights come only in limited quantity; for gays to be allowed legal marriage would mean rights would be taken away from straight married people. Just as allowing women and nonwhites the vote meant whites couldn't vote anymore...

Speaking of votes - he doesn't want mine.

Apparently Romney is a George Orwell fan. It's a bit like "In order to free Iraq, we must destroy it."
