but I have never had a child and I am giving her a shower and creating her baby registry. Besides the obvious essentials(pampers, bottles, etc), what are some things I need to put on her registry that she will need as soon as the baby is born? We have 2 weeks before her shower and I only have about 18 items on the registry. Can you help me come up with items?

I've already looked at the website but it's not much help. I wanted to know from personal experience what YOU found most useful or least useful to you when you had a newborn.

A bathtub and towels are a must. Mobile's for the crib or play pads or sets. Also, the baby nail clippers and nose cleaners, things people tend to forget. I would also put some larger ticket items on the list like a playpen, high chair, stroller or even crib so that friends and family would have the option to "pitch in" to help out. Also, pick a local store that has many things you like - be it Babies R Us or Walmart or Target etc - so that people can get gift cards.

Go to a department store, like Target. Walk through the baby section. Everything you'll see, you will need. And the website below has a sample registry.

A stroller, car seat, a baby swing ( those our a life saver), a bouncer. How about some stuff to pamper mom with? Like you could make her dinner, offer to babysit ( when baby is a couple of months old) a gift certificate to ya'lls local spa.

Crib sheets, pajamas, gowns, clothes, blankets, a clothes hamper or basket for just the babys clothes, shampoo, lotion, desitin, powder, nail clippers, burp rags(they make really cute ones now)or a car seat. I hope that helps.
