It is easier to go with the flow rather then be the Flo in prison. This does not imply to give up and follow blindly. You can make a difference even within the rules of society. I push the envelope once in a while for a good cause. But ya gotta draw the line just short of being part of the problem and adding nothing for the solution. For example in the news recently a young man had the opportunity to ask a presidential candidate questions. Unfortunately this person not only tried to make a point but I feel also made an A** of himself and cried like a sissy when he went to far and had to be tasered. Good! He was acting totally immature and disrupted a civil and democratic venue. If all people saw was a poor little boy crying when he got tasered by THE MAN then I fear there are way to many shallow people. What this guy accomplished besides making himself look foolish was to take away valuable time from others that could have made more of a point or asked more questions perhaps. It also wasted news and media time that could have been diverted to something more educational.

I think to answer that question you first have to determine where the line is set...and what the boundaries are before you're not in line anymore.
I think that as you move through life, your experiences shift the line that you set. Maybe a drunken night ends badly or you meet someone you love or you lose a loved one...all these things can change what you consider "in line." But in the end it all comes down to me. I set the line where I want it and the only thing that can make me feel/think/believe I am out of line is when I let other people convince me of that.

Logic and conscience. Unfortunately, they do a lousy job, as has often been pointed out to me by those who actually do stay in line. The upshot of it is, that the penalties for not keeping in line are mostly fictional.

Is my good and strong foundation in life that keeps me in line. All the years it has mold me to follow the right line of life. Although there are different lines i have encountered but those experiences were used to make me a better person. Each day i wanted to do something better for our life path in stored for us is limited. I bear that in my life to keep in tow of the line.

Hi,
Deadlines keep me in line. Loads of them so I set myself tasks every day and don't stop until I reach my self-set target of the day and that way I stay well within my deadlines. Then there's my strong sense of responsibility, my conscience which won't let me let anyone down, my general trustworthiness, my need to make a good job of everything I do ... oh and the need to earn a living so if I don't we starve ... well that helps!

Rather than what, my question is "who?" I keep myself in line. My profession, education, social and family interactions vary and I have different standards with different people and different situations.
What works in one situation or with one person is not a universal that can or should be applied consistently.

(Unfortunately) the knowledge that I would not last 2 days in prison. Only joking. I guess my self respect keeps me in line.

My family that depends on me. Without which I would probably doing something very bad for me.....I did before I had children. Lots of drinking, parties, I had no sense. Having kids put me back on earth where I should be.

my travels...to a different country
found that fast pace living in a city drew many lines, wants, musthaves...
travelling in the countryside tells me that i can live without most of those musthaves, wants... walk a little slower, smile more often,
