I'll give you a way to always remember how to convert mixed numerals into fractions:
The denominator always stays the same in the improper fraction as it is in the mixed numeral. So write a fraction and leave the numerator unwritten, but write 6 as the denominator.
Then, you need to multiply the whole number by the denominator. So 3 x 6= 18. After doing that, add the numerator to that number. So 18+ 5= 23.
So your answer is 23/6. Use that formula every time and you won't need to ask again.

3 5/6 is a mixed number. To change mixed number to an improper fraction (the numerator is greater than the denominator), use this formula :
denominator x the whole number + numerator
use the same denominator.
Thus: 3 5/6 = 6x3+5 = 23/6

You Prob. have to turn it into an improper fraction. what you do is times the whole number by the denmonator (aka the bottom number on the fraction) and add the numerator (aka the top part of the fraction) then u get your answer which in this case would be 23 and put it on top of the denomator so the answer would be 23/6
