i'm am recently writing a script and would like to send it to a Talent scout. Should I send one to a scout in my state or In Los Angles or New York will it cost money for them to read it if so how much. When you are the creator of the show you have written the pilot created the characters but after that what benefits do you have do you have any input on how is casted as the actors or anything like that. As the creator do you just have to write the pilot or do you have to do more? Thanks for all your help!! ~ Liz

Hi Liz, welcome to a very complicated and risky business. Just make sure that you have completed the PA4 form and it has been stamped in Washington D.C. Then you need to register the script with the Writers Guild of America. Don't release your work to anybody until it is completely protected. You have much to learn and I feel for you because fifteen years ago my first script made it to the silver screen without my name on the credits. So I could sit here and school you all night but that won't help, you just need to learn the hard way like most people do. Try "the screenwriters bible" and good luck! God, I don't know what else to tell you, email me if you'd like.

Fish is right but could have explaing it better. You register your script 2 places before sending it to anyone to read. The library of congress http://www.copyright.gov/register/literary.html
and the Writers' Guild http://www.wgawregistry.org/webrss/

Then feel free to send copies to agents to peruse. Agents in your state wherever that may be may not represent writers but I don't know. I would say Cali is your best bet. http://wga.org/agency/agencylist.asp#top

good luck!

thats large you pick to be a script author. 1st step is to get down your storyline and characters and plot. after which you will desire to attend to each thing. its that easy. after thats accomplished, you will desire to locate somebody to submit it yet you cant have faith all and sundry. some people scouse borrow others paintings, so in case you're finished. make a carbon replica of it and mail one replica to your self and dont open it. that way the date keeps to be on it and it is evidence that it replaced into yours to start with.
