Robert Dean Fraley


Robert Dean Fraley, 53, of Colcord, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, as a result of a coal mining accident near Sharples.

Born Dec. 10, 1953, he was the beloved son of Roger Dean and Kathleen Dickens Fraley of Dorothy.

He was a dedicated employee of Coalfield Services of Wytheville, Va., and a retired member of the UMWA, a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, a member of Whitesville Masonic Lodge No. 162 and a member of the Moose Lodge.

Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents, stepdaughter, Trena Dawn Toney, and a nephew, Kenneth Wayne Fraley.

Other than his parents, Robert is survived by his precious daughters to whom he was the greatest Dad in the world, Jennifer Sue Fraley Williams and her husband, Tommy, of Selma, N.C., and Kelli Dawn Fraley and fiancé, Matt Williams, of Colcord; a grandson, Shawn Williams of Selma; his companion, Dinah Williams, and stepson, Jesse Williams, both of Colcord, and stepdaughter, Joy Maynor and her children, Luke, Avery and Teya, all of Beckley; a brother, Roger Fraley and his wife, Sherry, of Rock Creek; a sister, Kathleen Denese Dillon and her husband, Tim, of Brook Park, Ohio; nephews, Roger and Adam Fraley; nieces, Emily Fraley and Audrey Dillon; and a host of extended family members, friends and co-workers.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with the Rev. Cecil McClellan, the Rev. Jerry Pauley and David Pettry, CLP, officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Members of Whitesville Masonic Lodge No. 162 will serve as pallbearers. Roger and Adam Fraley will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Friends may gather with the family 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
