No Democracy is not the same as corporatism. We can and we must have a democracy that is not controlled by corporations or else we become a fascist state. Don't people know that corporations are running many of our elected leaders?

You are confusing an economic model and a government model. Democracy is a completely different thing from corporatism. It's like asking if you can have apples without having it controlled by oranges. It makes no sense.

BUT:

Capitalism works well for the very reasons you are saying in a democracy. The definition of capitalism includes that business is privately owned and NOT owned by the goverment (i.e. the government does not own, operate, or profit from it's own businesses, it gets it's funding from taxes) - same goes for land and property. The government only gets involved in the regulation of business to keep the market fair (i.e. no monopolies).

So the answer is yes, you can have a democracy free from corporatism if you use a very strict capitalistic economic system.

A socialistic system on the other hand would have the government involved from the toes on up in business and would actually increase corporatism.

We don't have a Democracy! We are a Representative Republic.

The issue is that their is no such thing as free enterprise and less than 173,000 own almost all of the country. And there are over 300 MILLION in this country with 1/2 of taxpaying families making $25,000 or less! That is poverty wages!

In a free market there is give and take between employer and employee! That is long gone, with most companies dictating your interaction, if any!

The government didn't help a lot when they took the workers right to strike away from them in most areas. An employer passing a law saying their employees can't strike!

Maybe we can, but the question is how do we take it back!

The government better get some control over some corporations. If they do not, we are not going to be able to manufacture items for the military. I am sure China would make our tanks!

It is possible to have democracy without it being controlled by huge corporations. This can happen only when the government can prevent the emergence of gigantic monopolies. This can be achieved through the anti-trust legislation. Otherwise monopolies squeeze the small and medium businesses out of the economy and eliminate competition.

Corporations bring wealth to the people. Cheap goods, jobs, and benefits like health care. Government takes wealth away and costs much more than any benefit derived from it.
Corporations cannot vote.
Check out the economies of Zimbabwe, Cuba, Venezuela, Russia, and Burma. Failed experiments all. China, the only major Communist government with a decent economy has turned a blind eye to capitalism, why? Because it works.
Wake up! Only a fool would want to keep repeating the same failed experiment over and over again.

Yes but when you remove all controls from corporations you end up with what we're seeing now with all the tainted, shoddy, garbage from China and other places, while people who made quality products that may cost a bit more are thrown under the bus.

Prosperous has it right.

The concepts are diametrically opposed. Corporatism in fact destroys democracy.
