Ultrasound at this late stage is not accurate at all!!! My 37 weeks ultrasound measured my son at 5'4 (49th percentile), but at delivery he was 7'7........please don't rely too heavily on the ultrasound.

I had an ultrasound at 37 weeks saying my baby was over 9 lbs. My midwife wanted to induce me ASAP because the baby was so big. I refused and my son was born two weeks later, weighing 7 lbs. 12 oz. Ultrasound IS NOT a reliable source...it can be wrong by two pounds in either direction.

They are just estimates, and I have seen them be off by more than a pound. You can be dilated to 3 for 2 weeks, so it doesn't mean you are going into labor soon. being small doesn;t have much to do with it either. It has to do with your pelvis size. I am very petite, 110lbs and 5'3" and I had not problem pushing out my daughter (20 minutes) , and I was told by 2 doctors that I had a large pelvis and could handle big babies with no problem.

When I was 39 weeks with my last baby they said he was 8lbs 11 oz. That was the day he was born and he was 8 lbs 9 oz, so they were only off by 2 ounces! They are pretty accurate, but it also depends on the machine your dr has!

ok im 38 weeks i had an ultrasound about a week or 2 ago to see how much he weights...estimated weight is 9lbs 9oz now my doc said give or take 2 lbs...either way! i have an ultrasound on the 25th to see about his weight and if he's over a certain amount (forgot how the measure i think grams) then we'll be talking a c-section. i would say there not that acurate give or take 2 lbs my doc said...i wish they wouldve said 7lbs...LOL good luck!!!

im not sure how accurate that is. they told me at 38 weeks my baby weighed 7 1/4 lbs, but when i delivered two weeks later, she weighed 7 11....and i figured she would have gained more than that in two weeks time since all they do is gain weight the last month.

First I would recommend you do as your doctor says. However, I can tell you that I weighed 105 pounds when I had my first baby. He weighed 9lbs 2ozs at birth. Keep in mind that every birth is completely different. Good luck.
