As a parent who thought my children were so aware of all the dangers of alcohol and drugs (through the D.A.R.E. program and ongoing heart-to-heart talks), it still happened. I suspect that reality shows and morgue visits might have actually had an impact, but D.A.R.E. was a softer program. Where did I end up getting support? Nar-Anon Family Groups! www.nar-anon.org

I did feel all alone and had wished for a "MADD" type organization where I could get angry and get revenge against drugs and drug addicts. That was when I thought they were the problem in my children's lives. The problem really was in my children's choices and my reactions to their choices......I became as crazy (with worry and fear) as they did in using meth, cocaine and pills.
Could I have stopped them? Perhaps as teens I could have forced them into private rehab schools. When they reached adulthood, I had to "let go" of their insane chaos and seek out my own life....that's when I sought out and found Nar-Anon Family Groups. Now I know, regardless of their choices, I need to create my own life; and, on my own terms. I waited too long to walk through the door of my first meeting; what are you waiting for? Blessings!!!
