i cant figure out this stupid problem. plz help me! i m using the distibutive property and i must show all work.

the directions say to simply the expression.

12a+3+18-9a
= 3a + 21
= 3(a+7)

simplify the expression:

12a + 3 + 18 - 9a

we need to simplify the numbers with a variable
12a - 9a

and the numbers without a variable
3 + 18

3a + 21

Add Like Terms
12a + 3 + 18 - 9a
12a + 21 - 9a
3a + 21
Factor Out.
You can take out 3 out of (3a + 21)
So your answer would be
3(a + 7)
