I live in Santa Clara, CA. Some days ago, a bastard hit my car and ran away. I lost my left mirror because of the accident. Anyway, I need to buy a new mirror. I went to a Ford dealer shop, the price of the mirror was $159. It's too expensive, I think. Do you know how to buy a cheap one? any shops around here? Every time I drive my car, I feel like I lost my left eye.

I do not know what year and model your car is but, I would check a salvage or junk yard for a similar model. Also I would suggest you buy the Haynes manual for your auto. The Haynes Manual will give you step by step instructions for exchanging it. Most junk yards will take the mirror off for a s small fee like 5-10 bucks. If you find one in your color great. If not an auto body shop should be able to paint the mirror for a fee. They most likely could attach it for you. Ford mirrors, if it is an automatic mirror, have a harness at the mirror base body meeting point that make interchanging them a snap, literally snap the harness in place and tighten three screws. Like I said call the junk yard, if they have one in your color great, get a Haynes manual read where it talks about your cars mirrors see what models are interchangeable find one fix it.

Here is where you get the manual:

look at some of the salvage yards for a used one,it will work as good, and be about less than half the cost of a new one,i wouldn't buy a new one when a used one will work and save money, there should be a few good salvage yards around there that will have one to fit that car, good luck with it.

Go to a body shop and ask where used parts can be bought--there are junk yards with plenty of parts cars available.

find the junkyards and auto cemetaries in your area . you'll have to do some searching and some work to remove the part if you find it. then haggle for the lowest price.you'll find it a rewarding experiance because you did it yourself.also try to establish a friendship with the workers tipping is not unheard of if you find them very helpful

Try the JC Whitney catalog. They have lots of aftermarket mirrors. It may not match the original one exactly, but if you get a chrome one, or basic black, it may not look too bad.

Find a junkyard or car recycler in your area that sells used auto parts. They should have very little problem finding just what you need.... for half that much or less.

You should fix it before you get a ticket. Contact a salvage yard.
