Try La Cave in Costa Mesa (on the border of Newport Beach) It's super romantic!

When you get in the building, you have to go down (it's underground). It's dimly lit with red vinyl booths and a room next to the dining room where they have live music (often jazz or something bluesy).

And there's no menu. Your server will wheel up a cart with the evenings selection of steaks, lobster, fresh fish etc. Even the garlic cheese toast that comes with the meal is worth the trip!

Happy Anniversary!

All of the above answers are not worth your time....try Maestro's Steakhouse, 21 Oceanfront, The Ritz Restaurant, The Studio or The Loft at The Montage Hotel, The dining room at the ritz carlton, splashes at surf & sand hotel...these are all newport/laguna area. In Huntington the restaurants are all going to be a lot more casual-but the one in the hyatt is really goos, and the smores pits outside are SO fun and romantic!!!

i live in Texas, but i can tell you this. try going to some of the nicer hotels around that area and pick up some of their pamphlets and look in the restaurant section. they usually have a stand somewhere near the front desk. or you can ask a front desk clerk, sometimes they can recommend a place.
congrats!
