They usually start out as bathroom monitors in elementary school and work their way to hall monitors. They have to learn early to turn a deaf ear to the complaints and threats when someone is caught without a pass.

The way it works is that the NHL tells them that they will be bouncers at the Sin Bin. By the time the monitor finds out what it means it is too late to escape.

Reminds me of the story I saw on the guy who sits in the scoreboard of Fenway Park's Green Monster with a little window. He looked at it as a temp job-like 10 years ago or something, lol. Best seats in the house.
I would say it is a combination of dumb luck and it's who you know. Contacts.

I'd love to do that. As a fan of the highest penalized team I'd get a chance to see my Ducks all the time.
