A friend of mine had one when she was 13, because when she got her 1st period, she almost bled to death. She has Cerebral Palsy & her doctors didn't think she needed the extra aggrivation of having a period every month.

Yup, I was 23 and had uterine cancer. That was 15 years ago...do you have anything you want to ask me about? Everyone expected me to be sad, but frankly, when you find out you have cancer you just want it OUT and want to get on with your life.
I have three beautiful adopted children, a wonderful husband, and everything else a person could want out of life.
Sure, I had always planned on having biological babies, so the hysterectomy took away those dreams, but I also used to dream I was going to marry a prince, live in a castle and ride pink horses all day. I guess what I'm trying to say is just because things turn out differently than we imagined, that doesn't mean they turned out badly...just different! The adoption process was a wonderfull experience, and we couldn't love our kids any more than we do.

i had a friend of mine who had to have this done at 16. it was very disturbing to us we were so young then. she had to have a complete hysterectomy done. my mom had hers done at 27 but she had got married at 16 so she had got to have her kids before then. she had 5 kids. and my sister-in-law is only 21 and she had to have one because of a car wreck. and her and my brother had only been married 2 months when she had to have it done, she had female cancer.i had to have 75% of my uterus burned (abulation) thats what they do sometimes instead of the hysterectomy at age 25. good luck and best wishes.

May I ask WHY?
I hope not for endometriosis, there are studies that show you might not be getting rid of it with a hysterectomy
