i think it's ridiculous. kids today are already more obese than ever before. at one time, parents were outraged at ketchup being considered a vegetable, now we want to give them the freedom to choose fries and milkshakes everyday.

I don't think that fast food should be served in schools. Schools should be feeding children healthy but appetizing meals. Fast food is bad but school cafeteria food is too just in different ways. Fast food is very unhealthy and fattening to children and some of them are getting it every night for supper. Cafeteria food is not very tasteful to children either. I can remember when I was in high school ( only 4 yrs ago) that everyone I knew would rather go without eating than to ever come close to eating what was in the cafeteria. So which is worse not eating at all or eating something unhealthy. It is really just a never ending battle.

I think that fast food in schools is a bad idea for two reasons. First of all, even if they are trying to offer healthier choices (like a baggy of preserved apples and milk), fast food is still not good, healthy food. Secondly, I don't want my son distracted by the rampant mindless marketing that this would invite into his academic environment. I value my son's health and academic progress too much to ask for help from Ronald McDonald.

NO!!!! Healthy stuff only should be offered at schools, i mean like healthy snacks that are good, and offer salads and stuff. They should not be serving crap like fast food. Fast food is terrible for you, and has more calories in a single serving than you need in a whole day. I think the fast food industry was the worst thing ever invented. I really believe that it should never be served in school.

No it should not be ...we being the older generation know that fast food has a high fat content...i work for a food service doing school lunches and we started a new program that gives kids healther choices....it seeems they make better choices now that we have this program and we think that eventually the goverment will set up guide lines for the lunches that we serve students

Fast food should not be available in school because the students take Health class, and there the teachers teach them that fast food restaurants are unhealthy. It might confuse the children, and they will be eating unhealthy.

It should be more about educating them about obesity rather than stopping them from having junk foods (after all no parents can monitor their kids 24/7, right? )

With proper education, it gives them the initiative to think for themselves. It is the fairest thing to do in my opinion, as it does not take away their choices in foods , after all junk foods once in a while is alright and is recommended in good diet.

Putting the blame on junk foods itself, is pointless. As we all know, we have choices whether to take it or leave it. Ultimately it depends on ourselves what we put in to our bodies. With proper education ones can be much more aware in this issues.

Bad news. Allowing fast food in schools teaches kids bad eating habits that leads to obesity and illnesses.

they shouldn't have those things in schools because first they say kids eat too much fast food then they put them in the schools. sounds contradictory to me.
and then they wonder why teenagers and young adults are so fat.
