Okay, so I'm at a restaurant Friday nite just enjoying myself and celebrating my best friends birthday. I leave the restaurant around 11:30 pm get to my Truck to find that someone side-swiped my truck, leaving over $2,000. worth of damages to my vehicle. Mind you, they left no note nothing just hit my vehicle and left... :(

So here's my question to Y! Answers forum... Would you leave a note if you hit or damaged someone's vehicle or property?

Honestly after what I'm going through now... I can honestly say... Yes, I would.

Okay, a lot of you said you would notify the police of the accident... I never thought of that. Maybe I should contact the police as the person probably did just that? Hmmm-- thanks to all who answered... it's comforting to know that we live in a society where there are so many are willing to do the right thing. Cheers

Actually if it was a parking lot for a specific business, I would go into the business and try to find the person who owns the vehicle I hit. But if it's like at the mall or something YES I would definitely leave a note with an explanation that I hit their car, my name, number, insurance info etc. I would also get their info like their type of car and license plate #.
I would never just leave after hitting a car, that's a "hit and run" and is very illegal and worth jail time if caught.

I would have tried to find whoever the car belonged to first and if I could not locate them then I would leave a note. It is the right thing to do. Sorry to hear that you are having to deal with someones elses mistake. Good Luck

It really depends the car's condition and how nice it is. If it's big damage then yes. That happened to my mom's car. the front door was like smashed. they left without a word. it happened in a church parking lot too.

No, I would try to find the owner nearby. If i couldn't, I would call the police and report it, giving them my information to pass on to the car owner. Why? Because I will not leave my personal information in public for just anyone to find.

Yes they should leave a note. But actually was not suppose to leave so that tells you their character. Now they will probably be charged with a felony also.

Yes, I would leave a note because hit-and-run is punishable by law.

I would and I have done that. The problem is that many people are crooks who are money hungry and would take a chance like that to their advantage. Who knows what they might add to the damage and make you responsible for it.?
