I have been a pharmacy tech for over 10 years. You don't have to go to school - in fact - don't waste your money. Your best bet would be to apply at your local pharmacy and they will train you on the job. Then when you feel comfortable, take the national certification test and that will help you to make even more money. Some states do require you to be certified first, check on http://www.ptcb.org and if you do have to in your state, just pick up a book at a book store (they will have plenty to choose from) to help you prepare & take the certification. Good luck! I love my job & wouldn't trade it for anything!

What state do you live in? You'll need to attend an accredited school. Some junior colleges now offer complete courses that will land you an A.A. degree as well as a Pharmacy Tech Certificate. There are also trade schools abound (in CA, there's National Education Center, UEI, and several others.) Contact the PTCB for the National Certification Exam, they may be able to help you out in your area. You may also contact your State Board of Pharmacy for a list of accredited schools in your area.

It depends on the state. Some states require nothing. Other states require certification or some classes from community college. Doing through an online school is not a good idea.
