Just curious.

I did get a No answer.

The reason I ask this is, as so many have pointed out, if you don't believe in freedom of speech for the person you hate most, you do not believe in it at all.

Yes I do. It is what the 1st Amendment is all about. Founding father and patriot Patrick Henry put it well when he said "Although I may disagree with what you say, I will defend to the death your right to say it".

Yes... but with stipulations.

Freedom does not equate to license. Along with a freedom goes the requirement to use it responsibly.

I may have the right to own a weapon, but that doesn't mean I ought to be able to own a high-tech sniper rifle, or an automatic weapon... for no other reason than that I can afford one. And it doesn't mean that I should use such a weapon to settle disputes with my neighbors.

Freedom of religion doesn't give the right to participate in a religion that inludes human sacrifices.

Freedom of assembly doesn't include the right to riot.

Freedom of the press doesn't mean that the media the media can say or write anything it wants.

There is no guarantee of freedom of expression. Destruction of property just because I don't like something is a tantrum. It's not protected by the constitution.

Similarly, speech that is damaging to the country in time of war, that which gives aid and comfort to the enemy is treason. We have laws against libe and slanderl that inhibit free speech. Blabbing military and technological secrets is also prohibited.

A freedom has a price, and it presumes that freedom will be exercised responsibly and not abused. If people are unwilling to pay the price, or if the ar unwilling to exercise the freedom responsibly, then the state has the responsibility to protect the people who would abuse the right. The alternative is anarchy.

I hate the KKK. I mean really hate them. Not just from a historical standpoint but from a personal, been spat on by one of those creeps while they were on the other side of a police line, standpoint.

That being said, I still believe in freedom of speech for even these degenerates because it's freedom of speech. Not "freedom of speech only if I agree with you"

Everyone should have freedom of speech. I don't hate anyone! Freedom of speech doesn't mean you can be abusive. There are laws against that - and rightly so. But we are all entitled to our own opinions and can say what we like within reason. Unfortunately nowadays the PC BRIGADE are making it more difficult because we might offend someone.

Yes, I think freedom of speech is important for every one.
I may not agree with the views but all Americans should have a voice.

There is one thing I do not agree with. I don't agree that you should be verbally abused because of your view.
No one has the right to curse you and verbally abuse you because you voice your opinion.

Absolutely. I'm sure there are people who hate me, but I still have freedom of speech, as do they. Just because I don't like someone doesn't mean they can't speak their mind.

Hell yes. Just look at the crap on my 360 page. Nothing as been deleted and nobody as been blocked. Some just give free speech lip service, some of us actually practice it.

Every reasonable person can accept that certain exceptions to the rule must be made in the case of Walt Disney.

Because otherwise it wouldn't be freedom, would it.

And anyhow, how can anyone fear speech.

As long as someone is talking, they aren't a menace... it's the quiet guys sneaking around with the truckloads of fertilizer you have to worry about.
