Is a Sole Heir(only child & over18)entitled to their deceased parents Social Security?

The deceased parent wasn't married at the time of death.

As you are over 18 you have no entitlement to SS, except in the case of dependency, which usually means being severely disabled. You are, however, entitled to IRA balances, if the deceased willed them to you.

You would need to check with Social Security to see if you were entitled to any of your parent's benefits. Being over 18 you would only be entitled to some benefits depending upon certain circumstances...namely school and disability.

If you are not going to school and if you are not disable then the answer is probably you are not entitled to any SS benefits. But get in contact with SS and they will let you know.

If there is not a will giving things to anyone else, you get everything in the estate (property, insurance, SS) (less their final expenses and any remaining debts they may have had).
