I'm in a Dance Class at my high school and I HATE it. It's like torture. I'm not good at all (I used to take Ballet for years and I was good, but this is Hip-hop and I SUCK!) Anyway, I want to transfer out of the class but I need the teachers signature to do that. A friend of mine who was in her class two years ago wanted to drop the class for the same reason as I do and the teacher said no. What excuse can I use to get out of the class? PLEASE HELP!

Either fake being injured or say something like "I really don't like hip hop... can I go to another class?" If you explain to the teacher that you like dance but just not this style, she may be sympathetic... but some teachers just can't be swayed. If you really want to get out you can talk to your guidance counselor about other options.

I know how you feel, I love dance and am AWFUL at hip-hop...

What class are you transfrerring to? Let's say you're transferring to Martial Arts. Tell her how important it is for you to learn it, you feel you really need it for self-defence and self-discipline, how much you're interested in it. In other words, sound very enthusiastic about something else, whatever you're transferring to. Mention briefly that hip-hop isn't your thing.

If she doesn't listen to you, maybe ask your parents to talk to her. I recall that an opinion of a high school student doesn't weigh as much as their parent's. (Fortunatelly, it all changes in college.)

Did your friend ask what was the reason she had to say no? A simple challenge like that might have an effect "Well, fine, I'll let you transfer."

Tell you you hurt your leg, ankle, knee, etc., and are unable to dance. Even if you still have to go to the class, you won't have to dance =] If she still says no, maybe you can get your mom to write you a note during "that time of hte month" and then you'll get a break every so often anyways...

Maybe you can tell her the dance moves are becoming painfull to perform. If the teacher is a harda**, like you said, it may take something like that to get out of it. I wish you alot of luck. Rock On!

Be honest, and say that hip hop isn't your style. Don't participate in something you dont enjoy.
