They liked 20 y olds when they were 20 themselves. Why should they change their view on beauty just because they get older themselves?

Men between 35 and 55 years old can experience what is called male "mid-life" crisis. Three elements weave together to create a male's "mid-life crisis". Those three elements are emotional, social and physical. Although medical science has been divided until recently about whether the male mid-life crisis actually exists, new discoveries now indicate a powerful physical hormonal event does occur. What happens is some neurological event associated with aging triggers a patchy then sudden and total cessation in deep sleep states. Although men may sleep enough hours, they are not achieving a particularly important neurological deep state of sleep beginning somewhere, based on individuality, between 35 and 45 years old. That loss of deep sleep triggers a cessation of growth hormone. That cessation of growth hormone then causes other physical changes, including "spare tires", obesity, loss of vitality, impotence and general feelings of being "unfit". More about this can be read in a report published recently in the Journal of the American Medical Association. (Keywords: Male Mid-Life Crisis Growth Hormone).
How an individual copes with those physical changes then depends upon his emotional health. One commonality discovered is that the more a man has anticipated growing older and has come to terms with his own mortality and the more he has planned for his older years, the LESS these physical mid-life crisis changes negatively affect him. And, the more that a man has been influenced by social messages that his worth is dependent upon his youth, the more unstable he can feel during these physical changes.
Men can feel panic with these aging changes and awarenesses and attempt to "recapture" their sense of virility / youth by having affairs with younger women, changing careers, divorcing long-term mates, getting toupees, sports cars, boats and such. They adjust physically in a short time, though, and become more comfortable about their self-worth as older men.

I wouldn't necessarily say "obsessed" with sex, but it is what we are built for, so it occupies a major portion of our thoughts. At least it does when there is little or none available to us. On line chat can seem like it's all about sex because of the anonymity of it all, people can say things that they would not normally say to another person face to face. If you are going to be chatting, it's just something you have to learn to deal with. It's best if you state your preference to stay away from certain subjects at the beginning of the conversation and then end it immediately if the guy insists on going where you don't want to go. Be careful.

What these older men often don't realize is that these young women are often self-centered and insecure. The men think they're getting a sexy playmate when in fact, they're usually getting someone who is looking for a father figure. Most young women don't like older men unless they're looking for father figures. They prefer men closer to their own age.

Because women looks their best at a younger age. Some people like wrinkles. Most don't.
Their minds are way sexier after 30, though.

Its genetic.
Men who slept with premenopausal women throughout human evolution -surprise surprise - had more children then those who slept with postmenopausal women.
Incidentally, I read a study recently that suggested if it weren't for those horny old men chasing younger women, its unlikely any humans would carry the genes that let us live beyond 40 or so.

It asserts virility and acceptance during their midlife crisis.
Plus they have more confidence and nothing to lose.
