I think it's important to give homeless people the opportunity to earn their money because it empowers them. So, I will often say "I will give you all the change in my pocket if you drop your pants and sing 'Baby one more time' in a Scottish accent". Things can turn ugly when they discover I don't in fact carry change, but at least they have made an effort.

If I have any, I usually give some to the person. I hardly ever carry cash around on me, but if someone needs a little help, and I have it, I am more than happy to help. If I happen to have more than they ask for, or more than I want to give, I am very careful to make sure that no one can see what I have on me, however! *sm*

i say nothing, then proceed with an @ss-beating that leaves them bloody, and only semi-conscious
