Think of all the things you are not changing.

For instance, if you are are changing the amount of light, then that is the independent variable. You'll keep everything else the same: type of soil, size of pot, temperature, covered or uncovered, amount of water, size of radish seeds, number of radish seeds, type of radish seeds, planting time, etc.
