Celerons had a bad reputation for being the severely castrated Pentiums. BUT everything has changed with the new Celerons (Dothan, Yonah, Millville, Conroe L). They are cheap but FAST and nice overclockers too. They are now real bangers for the buck.

The M520 is more than enough for CIV-3. Current integrated graphics would do fine with that game.

Basic things, yes. Games... with a Celeron M? I don't know, I'd need more information.

It depends on what the graphics card is and how much RAM you have. It also depends on what kind of games. Solitaire would be fine, but I doubt you could play WoW smoothly on it.

Look up the system requirements on the games you want to play and it should tell you. Otherwise, for a proper gaming machine I'd recommend at least 1 GB RAM for XP, and preferably 2GB RAM - especially if you're unfortunate enough to have Vista. The graphics card should be a dedicated 128MB or higher, preferably a NVidia rather then ATI.

Celeron M processor is a very low end processor and most games coming out now have dual core processors in mind. Pentium M would be okay from experience. However, the new Intel Quad core is due to come out soon, which will up the benchmark for gaming performance.
