I see no one actually read the details to your question. Well one guy did, way to go guy! I would like to know myself what makes it an iny or outy.

No one knows for sure why some people have a concave belly button while others have one that sticks out. Health and parenting web sites agree that most people have "innies" and only about 10% of the population has "outies." But neither button style has any effect on health.
The belly button is a tangible reminder that we were all intimately connected to our mothers at one time. Oxygen and nutrients travel from mom to baby through the umbilical cord, and when the baby is born, this cord is clamped off and cut. That leaves a tiny stump that dries up and falls off a few weeks after birth and usually leaves a concave scar we call a belly or tummy button. Sometimes, the scar pokes out from the stomach, resulting in an "outie." As numerous sources including BBC Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota report, whether you end up with an innie or an outie is random.

Iny and the worst phobia you could imagine about belly buttons, when I was having my son I wasn't bothered about the labour pains or any thing like that, I was however having panic attacks in case anyone had to touch my by now an outy belly button. I am sick if anyone touches theirs in front of me. I have had this phobia since I was about 4 years old.

I have a cute iny. Genes might determine it ..also the way the umbilical cord is cut by the doctor.

I'm kind of a medium-y. It's definitely not an innie, but it doesn't poke out as much as an outie. It's just sort of there - wide open and vulnerable.
Hmm....this is good fodder for a question. I'll have to take a pic, post it and put it up for voting.
