Oh Pah Lease -- if you want to know California stereotypes -- ask someone from Arizona.
You all are BAD drivers.
You are all tall
blonde
drive fast cars
know all the movie stars personally
and my personal favorite: Nothing comes out of California except fruits or nuts
(I was born in California, my dad was stationed there)

I've never been to the great state of California, but have heard several views about it. More about the state than the ppl themselves. An actual resident said how the laws of the state are so tailored to Californians, that the state could separate from the US and be a country of it's own! Smog alerts that keep you housebound, traffic is worse than New York City, gang violence, that's the extreme complaints I've heard. A co-worker explained to me her perspective: you hear the negativity of California, but never the beauty. How about the tranquil weather? The awesome public sightseeing you can go to? The beautiful terrain? The myriad of cultures where you can get bona fide Mexican, real Chinese, Indian cuisines, what about those aspects? Although she moved from there, she was born and raised, and, like any state, has it's negative aspects (that seem to get more attention), as well as the positive. So, hearing former residents, living from Redding, San Francisco, San Diego CA, perceptions have led me to believe you simply can't draw your conclusions from only one perspective or what you see through the media.

I've heard people assume that Californians all live in Los Angeles; are blond-bimbos-wannabe-actresses or stoned-surfers; smoke a lot of pot; are hippie liberals who support any non-traditional way of life; and have hot tubs.
Some people also assume the weather is always sunny and 72 degrees here, even in winter.

I once worked for a company based near Kansas City, KS and I would travel there regularly. I would always be introduced as being "from L.A." If you're in KS, any one in So. Cal. is "from L.A.". Haha! I live about 50 miles from L.A., but got tired of correcting after a while.

What? Like we have nothin' better to do but sit around and gossip about people from California?
In order to have a sterotype, then wouldn't we have to be thinking about you in the first place?

Er, that we're all fruitcakes, homosexual, or hippies who don't shower.
Also, that we're all blond and attractive celebrities who surf and go to the beach 24/7.
