I have a 30 pound 9 month old who can't walk yet and needs to be carried. I just found out I am pregnant again, and am told that lifting something above 15 pounds could cause a miscarriage. Does anyone have experience with this? Did you carry a heavy sibling while pregnant with your second? Please help, I am scared! Thank you

Thank you all for the concern on my boy's weight, maybe I will ask a separate question on that subject for those of you who only want to comment on that, but for now, I would just like answers to the actual question I asked. Can I post a picture on this site? You can see for yourself if he looks obese or even chunky. Strangely, he isn't even very chunky. He just looks regular and in proportion. It is possible I am wrong, maybe he could be 28 or 29 lbs- he was 26 lbs two or three months ago. He will only be growing during the pregnancy, so at some point he will be that weight and beyond. Either way, I will have to carry this baby during my pregnancy.

No it want unless you are A very high risk pregnancy or are spotting. I went through the same thing with all of mine and I lifted up to fifty pounds sometimes. They all are healthy . Good luck with you second pregnancy.

My exhusband left when I was pregnant with my 2nd child. We had a 20 month old little girl at the time. I was put on bed rest for the last 3 months of the pregnancy and the doctors told me to stay off my feet and I was not to lift anything either. So as a single pregnant mother I was left on bedrest. Obviously staying "totally off my feet" wasn't an option. However I didn't want to hurt my baby. They may seem like they are stiff stipulations, however you have to do what you have to do. I can't tell you that you won't miscarry just because I didn't. However I'd suggest you speak to your doctor, let them know that you do have to pick up your other baby... they can tell you exactly what is too much and not just a suggestion. Good luck !

HI...No that is incorrect, you wont get a miscarriage from lifting a 30lb kid. During the first tri it's okay, I was lifting 30lb cases of beverages for work and up to 50 of them 3 times a week and was fine. It's later on you want to be careful, just so you don't harm yourself and over work yourself when you are already overworked from the child growing in you. Just be careful w/ stuff over 50lbs and if you feel tired, take a break...ask your husband to help...

I don't think that will hurt your baby. I have a heavy 15 months old who is very very active I have to run after her all day and sometimes carry her. I'm now 35 weeks pregnant with no complication.

Are you sure your child weighs 30 lbs at NINE months and not 19 months? That's off the chart of the standard infant weight-for-age scale provided by the CDC at 9 months of age. Has your doctor pediatrician not appeared concerned over this?

My husband is 6'5" and was always a big guy too, and my kids were always in the 95th-100th percentiles for growth. But yours would be like in the 150-200% range. That's not a healthy weight, no matter how you try to rationalize it, I am sorry to say.

why do you have a 30lb kid that isn't even one yet??? that is really really heavy! i know a 2 1/2 year old who only weighs 25 lbs. i don't know your circumstances but it seems dangerous and like your child may be looking at a lifetime worth of health problems related to obesity.
