I started out taking over the counter for about a month, them I tried prescription for about a month, then I switched back to over the counter and I'm thinking of switching back to prescription. Is this o.k, the only reason I've done this is to see if I can tell any difference between the two, I'll probably stay of the prescription ones this time, but do you think its o.k to switch up??

Yes, this is fine. I am 35 weeks along, and I have switched a couple times and gone back to them. At first the ones my doctor prescribed made me nautious, then I tried over counter and they worked great. Then when the other ones made me feel icky I went back and they didn't bother me. I also take an added dha pill, to help with babies development. Best to run it by your doctor, but you should be just fine! :-)

I wouldn't keeping switching back and forth just in case, but I don't think it will actually cause you or the baby harm. And that other girl was right most prenatal vitamins are the same unless you have some sort of specific needs. If you're still worried call your doctor and ask him, you might even be able to speak to a nurse practitioner if you doctor is unavailable. Congrats! and Good Luck!

There is no difference between over the counter and script ones. My doctor no longer even prescribes prenatal vitamins, but recommends that you get them from your local pharmacy.

I don't imagine that it is the best thing to be doing. Before you started switching between them you should have consulted your doctor. Please talk to them before continuing to switch with these pills again. And make sure you let them know that you have switched more than once. Good luck and Congrats

as far as i'm aware there is no difference between the two unless your doctor prescribes a certain kind of vitamin with extra of something that you need more of. in that case you should take what your doctor suggests.

Well my doc told me the main difference in the OTC and prescription is that prescription can be more gentle on your stomach.

You should be fine, they are just vitamins, not some kind of drug so you should be ok. Just double check with your doc the next time you go!
