Santa Fe is a nice place to live. A bit expensive (median house price is $400,000+), but nice. The altitude is 7200 feet and higher, so if you have breathing problems, it's likely not a good place to live.
Winters are relatively mild, it does snow, and it's nestled into a desert mountain valley. Summers are also relatively mild and don't get above 90F too often.
For things to do, there is the plaza where all the tourists come. Good place for people watching and shopping overpriced artwork. There are several ski areas nearby for both downhill and cross country skiing. Spas are rampant as are alternative medicine, artists, trust fund babies, actors and other famous and infamous people.
Santa Fe has been around for several hundred years, so the architecture is unique and the history is varied and extremely interesting. Check out www.santafe.com and google santa fe for more web sites. It is also the capital city of New Mexico.
Oh, yeah, it has a WalMart, shopping center, Home Depot and most of the 'conveniences' of modern life.
