Ok, i broke my leg playing baseball. Fibula and tibia in 3 places all together. They put metal plates in my leg, and right now im in the hospital recoverying from surgery. How long do you think it will take to heal? How long until i can walk/run again? And lastly, how long do you think the cast will be on for and what will come after that? Also, please don' tell me to just ask my doctor or nurse.

Thank you.

Healing time can be anything between 6-12 weeks in plaster and when the plaster comes off about 3 months to fully get used to using the limb again, obviously things differ between people and the severity of the break.

you will probably have physio for a while walking will not be a problem, sorry to say but running will be out of the question for several months because you could do the injury more harm than good.

No one not even a doctor can tell you an exact healing time, take it easy rest up and see how YOU feel, I broke my wrist around 4 weeks ago and started going out last week, I cant use my hand but can use my legs, believe it or not a half an hour walk takes a lot out of me now where it didn't before, what I am trying to say is healing a broken bone is tiring work (maybe its the pain killers or perhaps having been inactive for weeks)

I will wish you a speedy recovery, FYI- I am taking calcium and vitamin D tablets which are good for your bones and my pharmacist recommended they would help for recovery

Do not bandage her at all, or splint her. The leg has healed the way it has and if you try to change anything you might do more damage. You are not riding her or working her she is just a companion. If you wrap her leg it will apply pressure and screw with her tendons and so on. I would leave her and let her live out her days happy. As long as she is not being picked on or chased around i am sure she will be fine. She has had to live with it for this long, i am sure she has adjusted to it. If she is not limping around than i would defenatly leave it alone. Her balance should only get better if he leg stays the same not worse. Good luck, hope this helped a little!

healing time is impossible to predict, it is entirely dependant on your own body's ability to heal, and that is different for everyone. I've known leg fractures to heal up completely in as little as four weeks, and I've known some to take six months. No, I don't need to tell you to ask your doctor, you probably already have, and he likely said the same thing.
