I love the name dimitri, im just glad i found someone who likes it too!!! Don't listen to the put-downs, its a great name, and if its the one you love best, it is probibly the right name. Follow your heart/instinct not your peers. But im not saying peers arn't anything, to prevent jokes about the name give him a cute nickname like Diem,Dimmi,Tim,Trey, Trent,Triage, or a cool innitial name. I have some suggestions below. Basically, i think you should name your kid whatever you want, and (i <3 Dimitri) and maybe give him a nickname if your worried about teasing, but i love dimitri.

D.J. - Dimitri Jack, Dimitri Jackson, Dimitri Julian, Dimitri Jude, Dimitri Julius, Dimitri Jamison, Dimitri Jamie, Dimitre James, Dimitre John, Dimitri Jeffery, Dimitri Jake, Dimitri Justin, Dimitri Judge, Dimitry Judah, Dimitri Jamal.

D.Z.- Zachary,Zeke, Zepher, Ziggy.

I hope i helped!!

I like it a lot, but I think it would sound awkward unless the last name is somewhat ethnic-sounding.
Dimitri Smith or Dmitri Green doesn't have quite the ring as say, Dimitri Santangelo or something (just as an example).

Dimitri!?

Oh, thank you, lady! You are TERRIFIC. I actually like it a lot! It is so nice to hear a decent name on here for a change. It is not boring or typical. It does not have a bunch of miscellaneous Y's and N's. People can pronounce and spell it. I think I might cry with joy. Good pick!

Ive always liked it, though traditionally I usually see it spelled Dmitri or Dmitriy. Its hard to come up with a spelling though, since it is a Russian name and they use a different alphabet.
Also it is derived from the Latin/Roman Demetrius which is in turn derived from the Greek Demetrios, its the masculinization of the goddess of agriculture's name, Demeter;)
But the latin and Greek forms could be used as variants of the spelling as well.
