they both have had least one cell, get and use energy,reproduce, get rid of waste, grow, in Animal Kingdom, and adapt to change. Don't know if that's what you are looking for but hope it helps some!!!

1. Have levels of organization: cell, tissue, organ, system, organism (except the first invertebrate phyla which are missing a couple of levels)
2. Use energy that they get from their food (heterotrophic).
3. Respond to their environments.
4. Reproduce sexually in most cases. (Many invertebrates can also reproduce asexually)
5. Use oxygen and produce carbon dioxide.
6. Have nervous systems, except the sponges.
