The very WORST thing about being a child is that everyone in your world seems bigger and meaner than you, and their every contact with you seems to be for the sole purpose of bending you toward their will and away from your own.

You are expected to show respect to everyone else, but NO ONE EVER shows YOU any respect.

Even when you are supposedly "having fun", you can never completely forget that the threat of someone's anger can suddenly bring painful and/or humiliating punishment down on you in a moment's notice.

You are yelled-at or even punished for things that adults automatically seem to think nothing of when done by other adults - like if you accidentally drop and break something, or forget something important.

No matter HOW truthful you are, you are likely to be disbelieved.

You have virtually NO freedom of choice or control over your own life, whatsoever.

It is almost a miracle that any of us survives childhood without ulcers and a series of major heart attacks, considering the enormous amount of stress and constant pressure of living under the TOTAL domination of others 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the first 15 to 18 years or so of our lives!

ONE thing??? Here's a list!!!!

1. Can't get on roller coasters if you're under 48", which most kids are.
2. Everyone laughs at you if you use a big word, even if you know exactly what it means.
3. You can't stay up late, and even if you could, you couldn't go anywhere cool, so what's the point?
4. You have to ask your parents for permission for EVERYTHING.
5. There are some mean kids on the playground just waiting to kick your @$$, for one reason or another.
6. Adults act like there's no way you can possibly understand what they're talking about if they're having a "grown-up" conversation.
7. You can't drive. You're stuck with a bike.
8. No matter how many birthdays you have, it seems like you're never old enough to say bad words.
9. If a boy likes you, he shows it by pulling your hair or dumping cafeteria food on you. NOT very romantic!
10. Everyone laughs at you if you say you're in love.
11. You never seem tall enough to reach anything good in the kitchen cupboards.
12. You are forced to drink milk, which sucks, by either your parents or by the lunch lady.
13. If you get bad grades, your parents get mad, but if you get good grades, your fellow students make fun of you for being a dork. So you can't win.
14. Trying to eat Halloween candy with two front teeth missing REALLY SUCKS!!!!
15. You keep outgrowing your shoes just as they start to get really comfy.

There you go! Enjoy being an adult, everybody!! I'm going home to eat chocolate chip cookies, Spaghetti-O's, and aerosol cheese out of the can for dinner BECAUSE I CAN!!!! LOL

The worst thing I remember about being a kid was the feeling that no one really understood you or what you were going through. The other thing would be that it seemed like no one took your opinions seriously because you were 'just a kid'. Parents need to remember that you're feelings are valid and real to you no matter how silly it may seem to them.

I would tell your parents that you aren't 'just' a kid, but that you're a human too. Sometimes we lose that perspective and need gentle reminding.

On the parents side, I will tell you that we really truly only want what's best for you, and sometimes go overboard because we don't want you to make the same mistakes we did and suffer the same way. (That's how we lose our perspective....IMO)

Good luck!! And remember, people do care and you are not alone, even tho' it may seem like it sometimes :)

Next time an adult tells you how difficult it is to pay bills, blah blah blah.... you simply say "Yes, maybe; but at least you arent a kid. If you were, you'd have no power to control your own daily life without clearing it through an adult first."

Lack of power stinks!
