Avenged Sevenfold have terrible vocals, emo undertones, overuse of the guitar distortion, three albums and they think that they are rock stars or vampires or horror movie billboards or whatever? If your band has to say , "M. Shadows wants to set the record straight so there's no confusion: Avenged Sevenfold are a heavy metal band." then they must be very insecure.
Metallica, there is not confusion. They are THE metal band. They invented thrash, they use their real names not M. Shadows, James Hetfield is called J.Hellfield or anything so pretentious. Metallica's Master of Puppets has more guitar solos than Avenged Sevenfold have had in their career.

I like Metallica, but I LOVE Avenged Sevenfold, they are my favorite band! So Avenged Sevenfold all the way! and to megadave, you SUCK! get a life. Because if you are walking around calling Avenged Sevenfold and Metallica fans posers, that makes YOU THE POSER! POSER!

Both are great. But Metallica are classics. I LOVE ... and Justice for all and The Black Album.
