Yes, because most of the time they do it because they are jealous... Or they think the person that asked the question will look at them... I also think they do it because they want your answer not to show (if you get too many thumbs downs your answer will "hide")... I only give them when the answer is totally wrong or is not an answer at all... But I do give lots of thumbs ups!

I really hate when people give answerers thumbs down when I post a question because it stops others from coming in and giving their opinions.

Yes...
Either because I misread the question and gave an answer that didn't make sense (in which case I'd go back and fix it).
Or because they're mad that I answered before them...
Some people give everyone thumbs-downs.

No. I don't expect that everyone is going to be pleased with my point of view. At least it means someone read my answer.
A Best Answer with no thumbs up or down--now that's annoying.

To just draw attention..Some people might like your answer but instead put a thumbs down.. I hate it too but nothing you can do.

Not really. I kind of expect it sometimes. I kind of wonder when I get one for saying I support the Constitution. Probably some "patriot" that puts his or her party before the country.

No, to each his / her own; I myself give people thumbs down occasionally, usually when the answer is really vulgar & stupid, or sometimes if the answer is extremely long & doesn't really answer the asker's question.

I'm with rockieba. I try not to use them on people I just disagree with, unless their facts, and I use that in the scientific way, are totally bogus.

Yes I hate it so much! It's not only rude ( unless you've posted a dumb/rude answer), but most ppl give thumbs down for absolutely no reason! It's like, wtf ppl!!!!??? I NEVER give ppl a thumbs down unless they deserve it.

I've found it's not happening near as much since I made my q and a's private. It's just people who don't have anything better to do. I don't know, do they actually expect us to feel it or something?
