My husband and I are in that glorious TTC stage -- "dreaming"!! Haha. Anyway, we have some boy names decided on, but can't decide for sure on any girls. The only name we both like is Layla. We're a little worried about how it flows with our last name, which begins with La and is very similar in sound/rhythm/length to LaMarca.

So my question, Ask community, is....what are your thoughts on Layla LaMarca -- beautifully alliterative and a nice rhythm, or too repetitive and a mouthful?

Hi all, thank you for the great feedback so far. Just for a little more information, her middle name will be Michelle -- that part is a non-negotiable. I know, even more L's!! But there you go, the full name would be Layla Michelle LaMarca. Thanks for weighing in!

I think it is cute, the only problem I see with it would be "Layla M. LaMarca" Thats what will be written on her school attendance sheets and letters and tax things and such, and it isnt that it is hard to say, but written out it looks imposing and a mouthful. When you glance at it is looks like a jumble of L's, M's and A's. when you say it it doesnt feel that way, but looking at it it does.

Other than that, I really like it.

And I know what ya mean about that TTC stage;) My husband and I are TTC and have had a boy's name picked out for 2 years (along with 2 options for a 2nd boy, lol) and we have a first name for a girl, that girl's middle name is giving us some trouble though;)

Layla is a nice name- but I do think its a mouthful. I've tried saying it a couple times: Layla LaMarca, Layla LaMarca, Layla LaMarca....maybe its the way I say the name, as others are saying its fine.

Ultimately, your choice. I'd get your sister, mother, friend, anyone to say the full name a few times, see how it sounds. Good luck with the name dreaming! ;]

I have to agree with what some have said so far. . .

it's a great name - sounds very nice together, but. . .it is a bit of a mouthful. If you say it a few times fast the La on the last name gets out of hand (or out of mouth.)

How about Lana, Laina, Lanai, Lalita, or Lilia?

Too many l's. I think having a name the starts with an L and your last name starting with a L is fine but anymore l's would be too much.
Here are some others:
Leah
Libby
Laura

I think it sounds nice. Layla is a cute name for a girl.
Just make sure that when you add a middle name it sounds good.

I'm torm. On one hand, I quite like it. It's pretty and I like how it trips over the tongue.

On the other hand, my first thought was a burlesque dancer in a comedy movie. That makes me worry that the name will be a target for teasing.

I love it. I think it's beautiful and it flows together. I don't like the middle name as well though. Think of the initials- LML. Maybe make it LLL or LOL (lol!) or something like that with a different middle name.

I feel like I'm saying "lay lala marca".

It's a bit strange, in my opinion. I would avoid anything ending in a "-la" so it doesn't flow right into the last name.

Good luck!
