Oh, I'm so sorry! As a first time mom, you're probably going crazy with worry.

Yes, Vick's has a Baby Rub that would probably help your baby. The package says it's safe to use on babies 3 months and up.

When both of my little ones got stuffy and congested, I found that the best thing I could do for them was to bring them into the bathroom and get some steam going. Close the door and turn the shower on HOT. Make sure the tub is plugged so more water vapor is created. Let the room get warm and steamy. It's been a life-saver when nothing else seemed to help. I'd just relax and let my baby nurse or babble at me while we both breathed in the steam. It's better still if you pick up some Vapor Bubble Bath to drizzle in the tub before you start the shower so you get the added affect of menthol and eucalyptus in the steam.

They actually make a Baby Vicks vapor rub that's less potent. You can try that or just put some regular vicks in a humidifier(as nanna used to call it a vaporizer) and it'll vaporize the whole room with the soothing vicks.

You should put the vapor rub on a cloth and put the cloth up underneath his pj's...I had to do this numerous times for my son. You can also by children's vapor rub or purchase the plug in vapors. Good luck..hope the little guy gets better.

I'm not sure about the vapor rub, but if it helps, We've used the Vicks Vaporizer humidifier with my son(whos 3 now) and it seemed to work pretty well.

Once when I had no money to buy the Baby Vicks (Son was a preemie and we were flat broke after paying his medical bills) I used some regular Vicks, but did not put it directly on his skin. I put it on his onsie and then put his sleeper on over it. They also have the Vapor plugs that you can plug in right next to their cribs that work good.

I was personally advised by my doctor not to use that anywhere near my baby because it is poisonous to them if ingested. I was just trying to use it in the vaporizor. I guess that it is also very harsh on their skin. I was told you may have better luck "steaming" your baby by keeping them in a steam filled room like the bathroom with the shower running hot. Athough they do make a vix baby vapor rub and I guess that is at least better than adult formula vix. Good Luck!

I think your fine with just a small amount on a 10- mth old. Also try a vaporizer and warm teas. good luck, hope your baby feels better soon.

Get a new doctor or take him in anyway...thats ridiculous.

And use Baby Vicks, they make a milder formula for kids...

The one for grown ups is pretty harsh...I wouldn't put it on...but the baby one is way milder and it still works.

You don't want him to haev a cough a runny nose AND a rash ...

Good Luck.

I respect the gift and knowledge of all doctors.....BUT I put emphasis on maternal instinct....take him to the ER and let them see for themselves how bad his cough is...refuse to leave until he has been seen........go when the doctors office is closed because that is what they are going to suggest.......next;call or pull up(on the web) ASK_A_NURSE....I do not have the number for your city.....I'm sure your local info# has their #....finally I've used vicks on infants of a younger age...with no problems..remember,vicks unclogs so that they can breathe( and allows the mucus to come out)...a chronic cough is something else.
