Right now, Indian team is in a situation that they need to look for a long term answer, and to groom the team for the next world cup. The big 3s (Sachin, Saurav, Dravid) are all into the concern of their age, and have to give the way for the next generation. Sehwag would have been a better option but unfortunately out of form for a long time, and so this has left out with the option of either Dhoni or Yuvraj, as the rest of the players are either new or not sure of their place in the team for long term. So, no other choice, they chose Dhoni captain and Yuvraj as Vice Captain. Let us wish the best for Dhoni!!!

Only time will tell if he is a good choice but at the moment it seems that in order to neutralise Kapil Dev's influence in Punjab, the Indian cricket board is playing politics behind the selection of Dhoti as captain. I think Dhoni is an innocent victim in this deal.

He has no previous experience in leading any tyeam till he was appointed as Captain of indian Team for twenty/20 Tournament. He has all the making of becoming a good captain and time alone will prove how good a captain he is.

Dhoni is a best batsman, but he will not be proved as a good skipper as this extra burden of captaincy may effect his batting. Sachin Tendulkar is a supereb Batsman, but he never got success as Captain, as captaincy required extra responsibilities.
Only one player in Indian team is well capable of captaincy, DADA Saurav Ganguly, he is best ever captain. He most successful skipper India ever have.
